It's pretty sad when a sports bar doesn't know how to work their own TVs. Buffalo blues located on S. Highland in Shadyside has always been a fun place for me to watch Steeler games. They have good bar food, but nothing that my wife really enjoys. There's a large variety of bottled and draft beer. And they do a good job picking out their waitresses. The place was also recently remodeled. The bar area was increased and garage doors were added to open it up to the outside on nice days. I often see the PSL cornhole league playing by the open doors (Blues also hosts a PSL darts league in the back). It looks like a lot of fun. Anyways, the renovations also saw the upgrading of their TVs to big, HD plasmas. For any game on the major networks, Buffalo Blues is just fine. It's not hard to find the Steeler game and to know on which channel it's being broadcast in HD. But hockey seems to confuse them. I've watched three playoff games at Blues, but not in HD. To make matters worse, they have the aspect ratio set such that it stretches the image to fit the width of the plasmas. So not only do I have to watch blurred hockey, but the players are short and fat. Versus is carrying most of the Stanely Cup playoffs (a few games will air on NBC). But what most people don't know is that Versus has two channels (on both Comcast and DirectTV): Versus and Versus Golf. The schedule will only show the hockey game as being on Versus, but it will always be on Versus Golf as well. Why do you care? Versus is not HD, but Versus Golf is. So, I've written Buffalo Blues and talked with the manager; they don't seem to care. But until we can get a guarantee from Blues that the game will be in HD, my friends and I will find another place to cheer on the Penguins.

No HD and Bad Announcing
It was nice that you actually took the time to try and educate the management about their inability to show the proper HD channel. I would rather watch the regular definition in 4:3 then watch it all stretched out. Even still.....just change the channel to HD! Find a bar that knows how to change the channel.
You have the right idea about going out to the bar to watch the game. I watched the first two series at my local watering hole since I didn't get Versus at home in my Dish package. I upgraded for this series to be able to watch the games at home. Watching the first two games of the Philly series at home and actually listening to the Versus announcers is painful to say the least. They are awful. It was nice being at the bar and not being able to hear them.
